But did you know it has other uses as well?

We’ll have more information on this coming soon, but you can also use Core Power to make many different kinds of drinks as well!

Mikel Cirkus is the Global Director of Conceptual Design at Firmenich Flavors, and he came up with a concoction using Core Power Chocolate (Light) and illy Coffee. He calls it: Fire & Ice Scream!

“Not really a smoothie, not really a shake, and by no means is it ice cream. This is a liquid alarm clock. A wake up call to get you up and running. It’s a piquant slurry of caffeine and protein with dessert-like richness,” said Cirkus of his concoction.

So, would you like to try it out yourself? Good… Because we’ve got the recipe!

6 Black illy Coffee Ice Cubes (freeze black coffee in an ice cube tray)
1/2 cup Core Power Chocolate (Light)

1/2 cup Peanuts, Dry Roasted and Unsalted

1/8 tsp. Ground Cayenne Red Pepper

1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon

1 scoop Chocolate Whey Protein Powder

Put all the ingredients into a VitaMix Blender and blend at 5 speed for about :40 seconds. Pour into glass, sprinkle a little cinnamon and/or cayenne pepper on top, and enjoy!

Many people want to work out, but oftentimes, they don’t know where to begin or how to get started. Other times, there are people who start out with a fiery passion for getting in shape, only to see that energy go down in flames after a few weeks.

That’s where a personal trainer can help.

Personal trainers are there to help motivate, push and keep you on task during your workouts. But how do you find the trainer that’s the right for you? Well, if you live in the Chicago area, Right Fit Chicago can help.

The website is free to the public and helps people find personal trainers based on their specific needs. Launched on Feb. 11, the site has 130 trainers listed under 80 different specialties, and all are certified.

Owner Matthew Kornblatt, in a recent interview with Chicago Athlete Magazine, gave the reason behind this groundbreaking idea:

“I came up with the concept about two years ago while talking with my brother about how there is nothing online helping people find personal trainers,” Kornblatt said. “People are becoming much more health conscious, obesity and hyper tension are all big issues. The best way to receive optimal results is to train with a fitness professional.”

Functioning similar to a dating website, the site can help you narrow your search based on price, location, trainer specialties and even gender.

Users start by filling out a profile and describing in detail exactly what they want and what they are looking for. After completing the profile, a list of trainers that fit that exact description will be provided.

If that’s not enough, users can contact Right Fit directly and describe more specifically what they are looking for so the perfect trainer can be found.

Says Kornblatt, “ There are so many benefits to working with a personal trainer, even just once a week.”

Now it’s your turn!

What do you think about this innovative way to find a personal trainer? Would you give it a shot?

Here’s another tip by our CP friend, Lindsay Cotter!

Happy President’s Day!

You know the saying: “Eat to live, not live to eat.” Well, if you really think about it, what you eat helps you LIVE and THRIVE. Here at the Cotter house, we like to think of food as fuel. Fuel for brainpower, fuel for workouts, fuel for, well … FUNCTIONING! 80 to 90 percent of the time we want to eat to live, and eat WELL! That means REAL food. That means nutrient dense foods because in actuality, these foods are some of the most delicious.

So go ahead and blend up some Honey flavored Core Power, a teaspoon of coconut oil and some blueberries and let me know what you think! In the meantime, check out this list of seven “super foods” that are really beneficial for your body!

http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-7351/7-superfoods-to-help-you-live-longer-infographic.html

Cheers!

-Lindsay

Now it’s your turn!

Here are some ways to use cocoa powder:

Mix in greek yogurt for a chocolate mousse

Blend in a strawberry smoothie: strawberry banana corepower light, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, ice, and banana.

Mix with peanut butter and spread on toast. Tastes like a reeces!

Stir into hot oats and add fresh raspberries, banana, or cherries.

See, healthy and delicious! Now, go make some for your Valentine!

If it’s a casserole, again, freeze it. It will keep. Or you can even dice up the casserole and add as a salad topping for lunch.

If it’s just veggies, throw it into an omelet the next day, a soup mix, or you can even blend the vegetables and make a puree. Then add it to pasta with tomato sauce and a little cheese.

Ingredients

1 cup whey protein concentrate (I used a non-flavored one from my local grocery)
1 cup flax meal
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup natural peanut butter (either smooth or chunky)
2/3 cup pure honey
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup of HoneyMilk (I used the Honey flavor, but the Chocolate will bring you closer to the flavor of a chocolate peanut-butter cup)
Add up to 2 tablespoons of Turbinado for sweeter cookies

The beginning of delicious.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350ºF and place rack in the top third of oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine whey, flax meal, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.

In the bowl of a stand mixer or other bowl, combine peanut butter, honey, honey HoneyMilk, turbinado (if using), eggs, and vanilla. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Pour the dry ingredients on top of the wet, and mix again just until the flour disappears. The dough should be crumbly but stiff. Let dough rest for five minutes, then give another stir or two.

Scoop dough by packed, rounded tablespoon onto baking sheet about an inch apart (they don’t spread while they bake). Using a fork, create a cross-hatch pattern on top of each scoop, while also pressing down to flatten the cookie. The dough will want to crack around the edges; use your fingers to gently press any cracks back together.

Bake in batches on the top rack of the oven about 12-14 minutes, until golden brown.

**For extra flavor, add 1/4 of olive oil when mixing the liquid portion!

1 pkg (8oz) Lightlife Tempeh

1 1/2c of Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs

1c of Honey flavored HoneyMilk

6 cloves garlic (minced)

1 15oz can tomato sauce

1 6 oz can tomato paste

2 tbs Italian seasonings

bunch basil

1 tbs olive oil

4 tbs canola oil

1 egg, favorite bread (I used Naan)

favorite cheese (I used asiago b/c I like the bite it has)

Servings: 3

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375*

Crumble tempeh in a medium bowl and barely cover with water and allow to sit for 15 minutes.

In a sauce pan add 1 tbs olive oil and heat up.

Once oil is hot add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasonings, 1/2 of the minced garlic and reduce to low heat. Stir occasionally.

After 15 minutes drain the tempeh and remove as much water as possible and set aside again.

At this point with a pair of kitchen scissors cut your basil into the gravy.

Combine the bread crumbs, HoneyMilk and remaining garlic. Stir well to combine.

Add tempeh into the bread crumb mixture and combine.

Add egg to the mixture and combine well.

In a separate pan add canola oil and bring to temperature.

As the canola oil begins to get hot begin rolling meatballs in the palms of your hands. Use about 2 tbs for each meatball but you choose the size you want.

Add rolled meatballs to hot oil and allow to brown on one side then turn and brown on the other.

Once the first set of meatballs is browned add to gravy.

Continue until all the meatballs are cooked and in the gravy. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes.

I used Naan and heated it up in the oven on my pizza stone then added a touch of olive oil. If using a different type of bread you can heat it up to give a crisp exterior and add a touch of olive oil to the inside.

Place 3 meatballs inside the bread and top with a bit of the gravy.

Into the oven with the sandwich to melt the cheese (approximately 2 minutes)

Remove and bite into what New York tastes like but only vegetarian.
