Many of you have been asking questions about our online sales of Core Power, and we’d like to take a couple minutes to answer them:

Where Can I Buy Core Power Online Now?

We’ve decided that we’d like to leave the online sales experts in charge of online sales, so we’ve handed this over to Amazon.com – and there will be others in the future. We’ll work hard to make sure that they keep our product in stock so that you can get your Core Power where and when you need it. Want to help? Feel free to write an Amazon product review on any of our flavors! And stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook for additional online opportunities as they come up.

Why is Core Power More Expensive Online Now than It Was when It Was HoneyMilk?

That’s a great question – we totally understand how much of a bummer it can be to see the price your favorite products increase. Nothing super awesome about that. But our goal is to give you more value for your buck when you compare our product to the others on the market, and will always strive to keep our prices competitive. We know that what you put into your body is important and that’s why we use real fresh lactose-free milk and natural ingredients when we make Core Power. No powders like the other guys are doing. It’s a high quality product for discerning athletes like you… And as much as we’d love to be able to continue to cover the cost of shipping like we did when we sold the product via our own website, we just can’t afford to do that anymore. That’s where the Subscribe & Save feature on Amazon comes in and makes sense. We really hope that you’ll take advantage of it.

Where Oh Where is Chocolate Light?

Right now, there are four flavors of Core Power available (Vanilla, Honey, Chocolate and Strawberry Banana) on Amazon.com, but Chocolate Light has been ordered by Amazon and shipped, so should appear there soon. It’s also making its way to retailers in Texas and Colorado, and later this summer to other parts of the country. We’ll announce on Twitter and Facebook as Chocolate Light becomes more and more available.

No, Really. Where’s the Coffee?

The coffee flavor has not been made as a Core Power flavor, but we are definitely paying attention to the comments and requests that are coming in. If you’d like to leave your vote to bring coffee back, you may do so here. In the mean time, click on the coffee bottle below to scoop up the coffee that is being sold at Amazon.com, while supplies last!

Living a healthy, active lifestyle doesn’t have to be something that you just do in your spare time… why not bring it to the office? We don’t necesssarily mean that you have to get these whacky treadmill desks seen here, but you can if you want. What we’re really talking about is getting your coworkers to get up and MOVE!

More and more workplaces are encouraging their employees to start health and wellness programs at work, some even offering cool incentives for those who sign up. So why not get with your management teams and your human resource departments and see what you company can do. Be like United Power, the awesome Colorado company that we featured here recently, and motivate your people to live healthier, happier lives!

Here are some ideas:

Start a weekly running group

Organize group trips to the gym

Take long hikes or walks together

Join an after work sports league

Take dance classes together!

A week ago Core Power was given the opportunity to take part in the 2012 Google Food Fair, an event hosted on the beautiful Google campus in Mountain View, CA. This fair is a chance for Google employees to taste and experience snacks and beverages that they’d like to have available in their kitchenettes and gyms. They taste the products and then have a couple weeks to vote for the products that they like the best. Fingers crossed, they like Core Power and will soon be drinking it on campus!

We decided to go in with a Superhero / Comic Book theme, and let Googlers pose with superheros (and Clifford the Big Red dog, who was apparently lost that day, so we adopted him) in front of a comic book backdrop. The premise (as seen in these comic book pages below) was that the Google campus was being threatened by the evils of Buffering Man, a villain whose sole purpose is to slow the watching of entertaining online videos by buffering and buffering and buffering… Googlers who donned a “Captain Googler” outfit joined the forces of Wonder Woman, the Flash… and Clifford… to stop the evil Buffering Man.

At Fair Oaks Farms Brands (the parent company of Core Power), our goal is to provide better nutrition so that people can focus on leading healthier happier lives. This objective rings true in our company promise:

Fair Oaks Farms is a health and wellness company that promises to help people live life to the fullest by providing them with great-tasting, effective, natural nutrition that starts with the highest quality milk from the most environmentally sustainable farms in America.

We realize that providing great-tasting, effective nutriton is just one step in a many layered process. We also need encouragement, we need education and we need commitment from those around us. And in this day and age, we need that encouragement and support not only from our friends and loved ones, but from our professional colleagues as well.

That’s why we’re starting a new feature here at Core Power, in which we will shine our spotlight on a company that we think is doing awesome things to encourage their employees to live life to the fullest through fitness, nutrition and good health. By doing so, we hope to provide examples of programs that companies everywhere can learn from as they make their own progress towards company fitness. The companies that we select will be featured here on the blog, and will receive some Core Power from us as a token of appreciation for what they are doing for their employees.

Congratulations are in order for United Power in Brighton, CO – the first company that we are highlighting for their great efforts. Here’s their story:

In late 2010, the management team at United Power, Inc., an electric utility co-op in Brighton, Colorado, was facing alarming increases in costs for employee health insurance, and a continuing upward spiral in employee health issues. Rather than just sit and watch the problem continue and possibly even grow, the United Power Senior Management Team took a proactive stand. Realizing that they couldn’t directly change the costs, they tackled the other part of the equation, improving employee wellness. From that directive came the birth of the United Power Working On Wellness taskforce (WOW), a group of six employee volunteers under the direction of Kim Marsh, United Power’s Manager of Human Resources.

WOW’s initial efforts involved educating employees on making better food choices, and getting them out of their chairs and moving. Giving away free bottles of water and hosting a “healthy breakfast” buffet was accompanied by the WOW Walking Club, which challenged employees to walk during breaks and offered a 10-punch card that, when filled, was entered in drawings for prizes. To kick up the physical activities a notch, WOW brought in a Yoga instructor one day a week and subsidized the fees for employees. The Yoga class was so successful that within a few months, and by employee request, two Zumba classes were also implemented; however, WOW wanted to find a way to engage more employees, those who weren’t interested in Yoga or dancing.

As a cooperative, United Power has always participated in community charity runs and 5K events, but only with a fairly select group of “runner” employees. Two of those “runners” were part of the WOW committee, and they presented a new proposition to the rest of the committee: find an upcoming local 5K event that served a good cause and survey the employees to see if anyone would be interested in participating in a real 5-K training program to get ready for it. After considering the choices, WOW selected the Chick-Fil-A 5K set for May 5th, at Larkridge Shopping Center in Thornton, Colorado. The next step was recruiting a certified and willing coach who would negotiate on the fee. The WOW committee then went to the United Power employee population and offered “anyone who is interested or who has ever been interested, whatever your physical condition at this time, a chance to train for 12 weeks, for $50, and be ready to participate in the Chick-Fil-A 5K at the end of those 12 weeks.”

It was with a bit of surprise, and in some cases true amazement, that the WOW committee compiled the list of those wanting to sign up. 25 employees, some of whom admitted that they “just didn’t think they would ever be able to do anything like that”, along with those who “only wanted to walk”, avid walkers who wanted to move up to running, and a few die-hard runners – all of these people bought in to the plan and took the opportunity to do something great for themselves, and help out a good cause at the same time. Thus was born the United Power WOW 5K Team.

On May 5, 2012, the WOW 5K Team ran, jogged, and/or walked all the way from the starting point to cross the finish line 3.1 miles later. For some, it was a great workout and a lot of fun. But for some, it was quite literally a life-changing accomplishment, the first step to a healthier, more active life.

And what is United Power’s WOW 5K team doing now? Why, adding members and looking for another 5K, of course!

Thanks to United Power for sharing their story with us – we wish them the best of luck as they plan for their next big race!

Up at 5am, workout, work, kid’s events, errands, eat, play, sleep (if we’re lucky), repeat, etc. Well… that all can add up. In fact, it can be almost at much strain on our body as working out for hours. Did you know that? Our bodies don’t know the difference between the two kinds of stressors; physical and emotional/mental. That being said, our nutrition and recovery are just as important when we are in the midst of busyness.

We need those good calories, we need that protein, and we need to take an hour to decompress.

How about iced café mocha? Coffee + chocolate COREPOWER+ ice= The perfect midmorning break!

Today, professional triathlete Doug MacLean gives us his insight on how to stay ready to train despite the lulls of inactivity due to travel:

Often times, when people are on the road for work, they want to get in some high-quality workouts… but their legs feel like garbage from all that sitting in a car or on an airplane. What to do? Try wearing compression socks when in the car/plane, and always travel with a massage stick.

The compression socks will keep blood flowing through your legs when you’re sitting for long periods, and you can use the massage stick to break up any muscle tightness. Combine the socks and the stick, and you’ll be able to hammer high- quality training sessions even after sitting on a plane for 6 hours!

Great tip, Doug, thanks! Do you have additional training tips for your fellow traveling athletes? Please share in the comments below!
