How Healthy Living Could Kill You

In light of a new year starting, it’s plausible that millions of us have made resolutions to live a “healthier” life in 2012. But what does “healthy” really mean, and can we be too healthy? It turns out, A. J. Jacobs, a man on a mission for self-improvement, may have an answer to that.

His presentation at TEDMED in San Deigo, California chronicles his year of dotting every “i” and crossing every “t” when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. In the end, though, he realized that it takes so much effort to follow those rules that he lost health in other areas – namely his social life. It’s a lighthearted reminder that we need to 1) have balance in everything that we do and 2) find ways to build healthy habits into our daily routines instead of letting them take over our daily routines. Check out the short video and let us know what you think in the comments below. (p.s. If the video doesn’t load immediately, try refreshing the page one time.)

Have you ever had a healthy lifestyle make you unhealthy? What’s your key to staying balanced? Let us know in the comments below.
