He recently won our Big Game Score Prediction Contest and received 3 free cases of Athletes HoneyMilk. Good work, Sam!

“I was diagnosed as an asthmatic when I was young and the doctors suggested I try swimming. The warm, moist environment was supposed to be good for me. In high school, I tried to follow my swimming friends into the pool for the water polo team, but I quickly realized I was better at suffering through endurance sports than catching a ball.

I discovered my first real athletic passion in track and cross country. I decided to pursue both sports in college. After spending an injury prone college running career where I rediscovered my love of the pool and spent many long lonely hours on the stationary bike, I graduated and began racing triathlons in Chicago. Training without a team for the first time in my life allowed me to figure out what worked for my body and stay injury free. However, I quickly ran into a common post-college athlete pitfall where I wasn’t able to run, bike, or swim as quickly as in college. A full-time job just didn’t allow for the same focus on training. To combat this I took up new sports where I didn’t have the old college PRs hanging over my head. Trail running, Mountain biking, adventure races all presented new challenges.

I recently relocated to Boulder, Colorado and have been enjoying the racing in the fittest town in the world. Chances are, I’ll never win again. It doesn’t matter if your sport is off-road unicycling, there’s someone here who is faster than you.

Being lactose intolerant, milk is usually something I avoid like the plague near a workout, but AHM, being lactose-free works very well for me. I have taken to dropping it in my ski jacket and using it on the ski lifts for a snack. It doesn’t freeze very easily.”

“This picture was taken from my summer mountain biking trip through the San Juan mountains. Over the years I’ve transitioned from contact sports to endurance activities like biking, running, and triathlon and have enjoyed the journey. The effects of setting goals and having the discipline to see them through is infectious and positively affects the rest of my life. With smart training and hard work the next items are the Boston Qualifier and running Pikes Peak ascent (if I get in).”

“I’m a runner. I’m a lot of other things too but runner seems to consistently rank number one on my list. Since moving to San Antonio, TX a few years ago running has become a huge part of my world. It’s my stress relief, my sport, and my social life. I started a running group about a year ago and had the amazing opportunity to train a handful of newbies to their first marathon in November in San Antonio.

At one point a fellow runner named Lisa started running with my group from time to time. After getting to know each other and discussing different running products we love I told her how I am lactose intolerant and most recovery drinks will not work for me so I am always trying to invent my own. She had me over to dinner one night after a long run and shared an Athletes HoneyMilk with me. I was hooked! It was delicious and incredibly nutritionally balanced AND lactose free!

Since then, Lisa has challenged me to run a half marathon each month for a year. So far, I’ve run four consecutive half marathons and will continue to do so until I reach my goal! I drink Athletes HoneyMilk after every long run and every workout. I also cook with it. It makes an incredible addition to my morning oatmeal. The honey adds some sweet flavor and the protein helps balance my meal; I add some fruit and I am set! I am constantly endorsing it to other runners because it’s been such a great addition to my training!

As an athlete, when you find a product that works that you believe in – you stick with it and you tell others to try it too!

This picture was taken after I ran Austin 3M Half Marathon on January 24th. I always put an Athletes Milk in my drop bag to make sure to have it post race. My friend Lisa snapped a picture of me drinking it and posted it to Twitter. This is a great product. I am so happy to have found it!”

I first started running in 2007 when a co-worker suggested I weighed at least 180 lbs. Personally, I thought my weight was ~ 150 lbs. After that conversation, we went to the gym to find out the truth. I was 185 lbs. I ran that evening and I have been hooked ever since.

I must admit I’m a complete novice at all of this. My main passion is running, but I definitely want to jump into triathlons. In the immediate future I plan on training hard to achieve two goals: run a sub 1:35 half-marathon and sub 3:30 marathon. My previous Dallas White Rock Marathon times are 5:26 (2008) and 3:36 (2009). I must get my revenge in 2010. Especially since Athelte’s Milk has come into the equation! :)”

“The photo was taken at Rooster Rock at the Columbia Gorge area (20 miles east of Portland). It is not bolted so hence we have to put protection all the way.

It is a great climb with beautiful views for the beginning alpine climber ready to take the next step up from the crags. Views of the Columbia River Gorge with Beacon Rock in the background and colored kite surfers zipping back and forth across the river in the foreground make this climb well worth the effort.”
Awesome work, Peter, and welcome to the Athletes HoneyMilk Team!
